Gimpex Charitable Trust's Initiative at Little Drops Old-Age Home

Little Drops is more than just an old-age home; it is a sanctuary for over 9800 abandoned elderly individuals rescued from the streets of Chennai. This public charitable trust, founded in 1991 by two childhood friends, was born out of a profound sense of responsibility and compassion for the increasing number of elderly destitute left to fend for themselves.

The founders of Little Drops faced severe economic hardships during their formative years, experiencing scarcity and denial. Despite these challenges, they dedicated their lives to the cause of the deprived once they were able to stand on their own feet. This commitment led to the creation of Little Drops, a home providing comprehensive care to the destitute elderly, including nutritious food, clothing, shelter, and 24-hour medical support. The home offers ICU treatment, surgeries, orthopedic support, and even provides artificial limbs and rehabilitation services. For those who pass away, Little Drops ensures they receive a peaceful burial.

When we visited Little Drops for donations, we were deeply moved by the sight of the elderly residents and their resilience. The home had some pressing needs, the foremost being the requirement for a paved floor at the entrance. This pavement would significantly aid the elderly in walking, using wheelchairs, and moving stretchers safely and comfortably.

We received a formal request from Little Drops for the pavement work, which was promptly approved by Smt. Nidhi Goenka. Gimpex Charitable Trust donated granite for 3500 square feet to lay the pavement. We also hired a contractor to ensure the work was completed efficiently. By the end of June 2024, the pavement work was successfully completed.

The completion of the pavement brought immense joy and relief to everyone at Little Drops. The residents and staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude, appreciating our support and generosity. It was a humbling experience to see the smiles on their faces and to know that our contribution had made a tangible difference in their lives.

Our commitment to Little Drops extends beyond this project. Gimpex Charitable Trust donates groceries every month, ensuring that the residents continue to receive the nourishment they need. We believe that serving humanity is akin to serving divinity, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need
